Subaru X 100 MPG, 1977. Part of a Subaru project to test new ways to save fuel. The car was built by the Subaru Technical Center in Santa Ana, California. The goal was a car that could drive more than 100 miles per gallon of petrol. The X 100 MPG achieved 100.85 miles on the Oval Ontario Motor Speedway in California with a gallon of fuel at an average speed of 55.19 mph
